The Aurora

I'm not sure I did it justice, but here is my photograph from last weekend's Aurora event.

I didn't find out about the aurora coming to Washington until an hour before dusk. My partner excitedly called and asked if I wanted to go. I had been awake since 5AM that day and, if it weren't for her enthusiasm, I might have skipped it.

I'm glad I didn't.

I lived in North Pole, Alaska, and I've been to Iceland. Last weekend's aurora event was spectacular. Among the best I've seen.

We drove 2.5 hours out to Lake Wenatchee, in central-west Washington, to see the event. It's dark there and I have been wanting to capture a composition with this island for some time.

Unfortunately, not long after we arrived, the police kicked everyone out.

I was SUPER bummed and came 🤏 close to attempting to bribe the officer to allow me to stay.

Instead, my partner dropped me off outside the park, and I hiked through the dark forest for 30 minutes to find this composition.

Worth it?
